Rain. I’ve got a kind of love-hate relationship with it. In the spring, a good rain can make everything green again. In sweet summertime, a good rain is just what the doctor ordered to cool everything off during a hot day. Rain, it’s a good thing.
Really, y’all, rain is a beautiful thing.
But, it can also ruin a perfectly planned picnic. Too much of it can cause major flooding with quick, sudden destruction. Let’s not forget, too, how a little rain can ruin the best of hair days. Ladies, amiright?
But, what about spiritual rain?
Rain, rain, go away
There have been times in my life that when it rained, it absolutely poured. I bet, friend, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Maybe there were problems at your job. Then you get home after a long day, and boom, something is going on in your personal life, too. And then, to top it all off, your car, that faithful hunk of metal that gets you from place to place, decides to give up the ghost and you’re stuck without a ride.

I’ve been there, friend. Been. There.
Ever seen a rainstorm come down in sheets or blow through in waves?
Sometimes, the rain that hits us spiritually is the same way. One thing right after the other sent by the enemy of our souls to wear us down and make us lose all of our precious hope in Him.
You’re probably wondering by now why I’m on this subject this week. We all know what it’s like, right?
Well, friend, have you ever considered what the rain does for the soul?
Last weekend, the pastor’s wife made a good point about the rain when she testified. Without a little rain, we’d just all dry up and become a desert.
Or stay. Rain is a good thing
Let that soak in (pun absolutely intended 🙂 ). In the summer, without rain, all the pretty, green grass just turns dead and brown. I don’t know about you, but I don’t particularly enjoy looking out the window and not seeing the vibrant colors of nature the Good Lord blessed us with. Let’s also not forget that a shortage of rain leads to low creeks, which means the fishing isn’t so great. And that’s a problem.
It’s also the same with our Christian walk, too. A little rain, a little bit of a hard time, causes us to grow in the Lord. When we learn to put our hope and our trust in Him, through the rain, He teaches us He is abundantly able to take care of every one of our needs. You know how we’re also fishers of men? Well, some spiritual rain can also help lead to some better fishin’. Why? Because you’ve now got a better testimony– better bait, if you will.
Spiritual rain leads to spiritual growth, y’all.
Rain, friend, it’s a good thing. Let’s learn to dance in it.

Rain definitely means growth. I don’t complain any more about the rain. When you grow spiritually your perspective changes! Send the rain Lord!!!
Thanks for sharing. Grace and peace to you!
I admit, I still complain about the rain sometimes. Sometimes it takes more than a bit for the lesson to soak in. Thanks for reading!
Good thoughts:) Makes me think of James chaper one. The trying of our faith (rain) works patience… <3
