Ahhh, Valentine’s Day. The Day of Love. Some of us love it because it’s the day devoted to showering our significant other with sweet nothings. Some of us like it because the good chocolate is on sale the day after. And then there are others or us, who hate it. I know some in that camp refer to it as Single’s Awareness Day. But, no matter which side of the fence you’re on, Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to be reminded to spread the love of Christ.

Serve Jesus. Serve others.

Sorry, y’all. I totally did not mean to disappear for two weeks! Last week was Vacation Bible School at my church. (Side note: want to find a way to serve others? Volunteer for VBS!) Let’s be honest here, does anything else really get done during VBS?

No. The answer is no.

But, I’m back now and I want to share a little thought with you that I’ve been thinking about since the weekend.

This past Saturday night, my church family and I traveled an hour and a half to be in service with a fellow church. When I say traveled, I actually mean we white-knuckled the handles on the door and prayed we wouldn’t slide off the edge of the mountain on the way there. Not kidding, y’all.

But despite the beautiful mountain views and the breath-taking moments, the service left me with a considerable amount of “stuff” to ponder over.

Tell me, Lord. What is the plan?

Alright, y’all. If you’re a regular reader, you know that Christian music is a lot of the inspiration for my posts. It often gets me thinking about what is the plan for my life, if I’m being honest.

Back when I was driving the ol’ Ford Taurus, my radio didn’t work. So, I spent four years singing to myself. And, well, being a lyric loser…. haha, don’t need to go there. 😉 Now that the Saturn has a working radio, I rarely ever turn it off. I flip between the local Christian stations, depending on which one isn’t on commercial break (Spoiler: the breaks are the same time!!! Ugh).

Anyway, so yesterday on my way home I had the radio blaring, right? I mean, if the radio isn’t blaring… are you really even listening? So, the song Tell Me by Carrolton comes on. I’ve heard that song several times before, but I think I actually heard part of the verse for the first time yesterday. I mean, really heard it.

Use What the Good Lord Gave You

Full disclosure: This is not the post I had originally planned to share this week. I guess there is a reason the other post didn’t sound exactly right? But the title of this is “use what the good Lord gave you” and I had to use the post I felt Him pushing on my heart.

Over the weekend, one of my favorite visiting preacher’s stopped by to preach for us. I’d be lying if I said this particular preacher wasn’t in my Top Five Favorites. Okay, fine. Top Three.

Both messages that he preached to us have given me a lot of food for thought. It seems no matter who is up preaching, two reoccurring themes we’ve been hearing lately are “Use the talents the Lord gave to you for Him” and “Get ready! We’re fighting for revival!”

The original post was going to discuss how the church and each individual needs to be ready to take back what belongs to God. I had the majority of the post written and ready to go, but I had this strange inkling I needed to hold off on posting that one. Maybe you need to read this one instead? I truly don’t know the reason.
