You know how sometimes I’ll share neat, little stuff with you and sometimes there’s a giveaway? Keep reading for your chance to enter a phone case from Prone to Wander LA (sponsored by FrontGate Media). These cases are great when you need a reminder of the goodness of the Lord to help you combat Satan’s lies!
Do you ever have those days where everything just seems to go wrong? Like, reaaal wrong?
The car wouldn’t start and you ended up embarrassingly late for work.
Your hair dryer gave up the ghost halfway through drying your hair. And then you had no choice but to look like a half-drowned homeless goat for the rest of the day.
And then, to top if off, McDonald’s gave you unsweet tea when you ordered the sweet tea instead. No one likes a cup of dirt water. That’s a bad day, y’all.
Maybe your bad day doesn’t look exactly like that. But, dear reader, I bet you know the kind of day I’m referring to. On those days, it’s real easy to throw a pity party for one and have an unexpected guest to show up.
Yep, you know the guest, right? Satan and those lies he brings to whisper in our ears.
An Uninvited Party Guest
If we’re not paying attention, rough days can leave us twisted in a knot that we just cannot get out of. We start to believe things like:
No one cares about me.
I’m such a loser.
Nothing ever goes my way.
I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve been at that party. And you know what, it’s not a fun time. Satan likes to take the ends of those lies he twists us up in and double knot them so we’re stuck. When Satan comes around and wants to join your pity party, shut it down. Click To Tweet
His goal, friend, is to make us forget that we’ve been redeemed by Christ.
How to Combat Satan’s Lies

I think I’ve mentioned this before here, but I’ll mention it again. Whenever I come across a really helpful scripture, I like to write it down on a sticky note and stick it somewhere that I’ll see it regularly. At one point, the wall behind my desk was covered in scripture. One day, as I was opening my mouth to complain about something silly, Philippians 2:14 flew off my wall and slapped me in the face.
Yep, Phillippians 2:14. Do all things without murmurings and disputings.
Talk about a good reminder…. and a good dose of conviction.
Anyway, the point of that is: scripture helps us remember Who we belong to and reminds us of who we really are in Christ.
You remember King David, right? You know, the most revered king of Israel? The one that is credited with writing most of the Psalms?
Well, David may or may not have written Psalm 119. Either way, there’s one particular scripture in Psalms 119 that’s real helpful in combating Satan’s lies.
Hide the word in your heart and keep it
Psalm 119:11 says, Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Now, friend, that scripture can be broken down a couple of ways. One way to look at it, is to keep God’s commandments close to your heart so you know how to live your life that is pleasing to Him.
And we should do that. Absolutely do that.
But, we can also keep the scriptures that remind of us how blessed we are close to our heart, too.
Like Philippians 4:19 which says, But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Or, Isaiah 41:10, Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
And even 1 Peter 2:9, which says, But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
When Satan comes around and wants to join your pity party, shut it down. You don’t need a pity party when you’re a child of God. Remember what the scriptures say.
You are loved, friend, by the One that holds it all.

I’ve been convicted lately of just that…to truly begin marinating in and on God’s Word again and to teach my children to do the same. Thanks Cassie 💕
Honestly, girl, this is something I need to start doing again, too! Sometimes it’s real easy to slack off in the Bible reading category… But, so worth the time and effort when you do it!
