About Cassie

Hey everyone, I’m Cassie– the blogger behind the screen!  I live in the middle of nowhere in Southwest Virginia and I have one dog (a total stoop kid) and too many cats.  You’ll see me reference one of those cats as Hateful Cat a time or two… he’s really not that bad rude.  My sister, though, wholeheartedly disagrees with me.

Since you’ve clicked the About + Contact page, I’m betting you’re looking for some facts about me, right?  I mean, of course you are.  I’m a mind reader, too, don’t you know? 😉

Well, here ya go!

  1. I didn’t want to start a blog.  But, you know, when God tells you to do something, you better do it.  So, I quit running like Jonah did and I took a leap of faith in January of 2017.  It’s truly been an incredible journey ever since then.  Sometimes, a labor of love.  But, worth it.
  2. I’m in my mid-twenties and I’m single.  I don’t mean to tell you that so you’ll take pity on me.  And I’m definitely not telling you this as a “Oh, I’m single!  Let’s mingle!”  Yeah, no.  That’s not where I’m going with this.  I mention it because my dear Momma has passed on some great advice about singleness and relationships.  Like, don’t marry someone who will kick rocks in your path.
  3. As much as I love blogging, I almost quit.  Yep, you read that right.  I. Almost. Quit.  Turns out, when you start comparing yourself to others… well, that opens a door for Satan to really get you down.  But, God is so, so faithful.  He’ll send you what you need right on time– and that’s a guarantee!

If this is your first visit, I’m so glad you’ve stopped by!  Did you know that once you subscribe, you receive a FREE devotional written by yours truly?

You didn’t know that?  Wellllll, you do now!  Go ahead and subscribe!  Then, check your email for the link to the download!

Just so you know, we’re totally friends now.  And friend, I hope and pray this blog is nothing but a blessing to you.  Maybe you’ll find some encouragement.  Maybe you’ll find something to make you laugh.  Or maybe you’ll find something to soften some rough edges.  But whatever you find, I pray it’s exactly what you need.

I love hearing from you!  If you ever need someone to pray with you, someone to listen to your worries, or just want to drop a line, feel free to contact me directly at cassielwilsonblog@gmail.com!  I’ll get back to you soon, I promise. 🙂

Love, Cassie

“I am not a good blogger because I hate social m “I am not a good blogger because I hate social media.” —me, rationalizing why I should probably just give up blogging altogether.
•
But, you know, God didn’t tell me to grow a social media audience. The blogging world did.
•
God also didn’t tell me to make sure I had Instagram worthy photos to post every day. The blogging world pushed that.
•
Don’t get me wrong. I 100% understand why the blogging world says “Grow your social media presence!” I get why there are courses for this very thing.
•
But, I am soooo bad at it. If I’m honest, I really kind of hate social media. No amount of courses or learning how to hack the algorithm will make me love social media.
•
And you know what?
•
God didn’t tell me to do those things. He simply said “Write.”
•
I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t struggled with the social media aspect of it for months. Social media is overwhelming and it can be a source of great frustration.
•
But, I also know God said just to write. And so, I will. Because I know that He will still use my blog to help someone, even if I don’t have a giant following on social media. He can still use my blog even if I’m not posting 6 posts a day, every day on ~all~ the platforms at ~just~ the right time.

Don’t let all of the noise get in the way of what God told YOU to do. (Even if it makes no sense to anyone else!)

Goodbye, 2020. Hellooooo 2021. 😍 • Can we all Goodbye, 2020. Hellooooo 2021. 😍
•
Can we all agree that 2020 has been kind of a dumpster fire?
•
Here’s to being hopeful about 2021 and leaning on faith to make it through.
•
Over on my blog (slowly resurrecting it, y’all. 😂), I’m talking about choosing to frame 2021 on both hope and faith. Head on over there and hear my thoughts on it. #linkinbio

Is it really Monday if you’ve been on the quaran Is it really Monday if you’ve been on the quarantine clock since March...?
•
Well, since the calendar says it’s Monday, let’s do a #meetmemonday!
•
I’m a spanish teacher and I’m currently STRESSING over what school will look like next year. 🤯
•
I think mini M&Ms are THE best kind of M&M.
•
I may or may not separate my mini M&Ms by color before eating. 🤷🏻‍♀️
•
Anyone else do that? Or is that just me...? #learningtobethelight #shinebright
You know what I like? A good thunderstorm. 😍
•
You know what I don’t like? A storm that hits you in life and leaves you feeling hopeless. 😐
•
Actually, come to think of it... I don’t actually know anyone that likes that kind of thing...? 🤔
•
There’s only one way through those kinds of trials and it’s called clinging to Jesus. And guess what? There’s a new post on the blog today all about what to do when you find yourself in a storm.
•
If you’re currently facing something hard, I encourage you to go check it out! #linkinbio

Look at me wishing for a different season already. 😂 Life is kind of the same way, though, right? The Lord puts us in a certain season and we’re done and over it before the Lord says it’s time for a change.
•
Anyone else? Or just me? 🤷🏻‍♀️
•
There’s a new post on the blog about this very thing. Go check it out. 😘 #Linkinbio #learningtobethelight

Five facts coming at you!
1. I really like (and I mean, REALLY LIKE) mini m&ms. I may or may not be working on a family size bag right now.
2. I recently learned I can still hula hoop like a pro. 💪🏼
3. Mexican food is the best food.
4. I teach Spanish and I’m excited about the new school year, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t anxious.
5. I quit blogging for a bit. And I wish I didn’t, but it happened. There will likely be a post on that later. 😬
•
Did I mention there’s a new post up? Oh, I did? Well, what are you waiting for? Head on over to the blog and read what I learned from Cain. Mercy, y’all. It’s amazing. 😭
